11 // Quantum Vacuum Metrology Program

Standard physics states that Zero-Point Energy (ZPE) is the ground state of the universe — you cannot extract net energy from a system's lowest possible energy state any more than you can flow water from a lake at sea level to the ocean. However, we can create a gradient where the vacuum pressure is lower in one spot than another, and measure the force differential between them with unprecedented precision.

This program uses a hybrid measurement approach: static sensing via micro-cavities that suppress electron orbitals (the Moddel/Haisch geometry), and dynamic sensing via oscillating boundaries that probe vacuum fluctuations through the Dynamical Casimir Effect. Whether net energy extraction is physically possible remains an open research question — our instruments are designed to answer it.
