05 // VACUUM AS A SERVICE

Vacuum-as-a-Service Infrastructure Pipeline

Vapor Vacuum provides managed vacuum environments under service-level agreements. The client specifies a volume and a pressure; Vapor Vacuum delivers, instruments, and maintains the vacuum continuously. Pumping, leak detection, outgassing management, and Smart-Skin liner servicing are included in the contract. The client operates inside the vacuum without managing it.

Service Tiers

NANO-VOID1 mm³ – 10 cm³
PRESSURE RANGE10−9 – 10−12 torr
Quantum-limited measurement environments for ion trap experiments, long-coherence atomic physics, and contamination-free sample storage. Getter-pumped, titanium-sublimation maintained. Typical application: Brainwave Systems OPM sensor cell fabrication.
METRO-VOID1 m³ – 100 m³
PRESSURE RANGE10−3 – 10−9 torr
Mid-scale process chambers for Phase Flash flash distillation, thin-film deposition, inert-atmosphere welding, electron beam processing, and controlled-environment curing. Turbomolecular or cryogenic pumping. Bake-out to 150°C standard.
INDUSTRIAL-VOID100 m³ – 10,000 m³
PRESSURE RANGE10−3 – 10−7 torr
Large-format manufacturing, beamline enclosures, accelerator segments, and Stellar Furnace test chamber volumes. Roughing pump cascades with roots blowers, backed by diffusion or cryogenic pumps. Residual gas analysis monitoring. Helium leak testing to <10−10 torr·L/s.

Service-Level Agreement Structure

Each VaaS contract specifies: target pressure (with permitted excursion band), volume dimensions, gas species exclusions (e.g., hydrocarbon-free for optical coatings), pump-down time from atmospheric to operating pressure, and maximum unscheduled downtime per quarter. Smart-Skin liners — getter-coated chamber surfaces with embedded pressure sensors — provide continuous in-situ monitoring and autonomous pump-speed adjustment. Liner replacement is scheduled on outgassing rate trends, not calendar intervals.
